A Sweet Start to the School Year!

Adrian’s retired teachers made the first week of school a little sweeter by bringing treats for current teachers, staff and administrators! What a thoughtful way to show their continued support and remind us that once a Blackhawk, always a Blackhawk.

The Lady Blackhawks traveled to St. Joseph Friday for the Pony Express Tournament. They went 3-1 on the weekend! Great start to the season!

Morning Arrival:
~Please remember that students are not to be dropped off at school prior to 7:35 am.
~Do not let students out of vehicles until staff starts the arrival process at 7:35 am.
~The gravel parking lot IS NOT for student drop off.

Dismissal:
~Thank you for your patience during dismissal on the first day of school! It always takes a bit longer with extra students returning home as car riders on the first day.
~Remember that you have two tags for your vehicle. Tags must be in the windshield or an ID check will be requested with the office.
~When parked in the car rider line, DO NOT BLOCK the High School Steps. The H.S. Entrance needs to remain clear at all times.

The Adrian First Baptist Church treated teachers, administrators and support staff to a delicious lunch today. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and continued support of our school staff!

Varsity volleyball kicks off this Friday and Saturday in St. Joseph and varsity football is at 7pm in Butler! Come out and cheer on the Blackhawks this weekend!

The Adrian Elementary team is ready for another year of learning and making a difference in the lives of the Blackhawks! The first day of school is right around the corner - August 25, 2026!

The Adrian United Methodist Church graciously prepared a delicious lunch for teachers, administrators, and support staff today. Their loaded nachos were a huge hit! Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and continued support of our school staff!

ADRIAN FCCLA News...
Two FCCLA officers, Secretary Grace Engeman (Junior) and Parliamentarian Leah Ford (Senior), represented FCCLA at the Adrian Optimist Club meeting tonight. They presented an upcoming fundraising opportunity, and discussed future volunteer opportunities for partnership between the two organizations. Adrian FCCLA members said, "We are so thankful for the Optimist’s support of our chapter and of our community!"

Teachers and administrators have been busy at school this week, preparing for a great school year! We are so grateful to the members of Adrian Christian Church for preparing and serving a delicious lunch today. Thank you for your time, effort, and kindness as we get ready to welcome students back! Kindergarten Roundup is Wednesday, August 19th starting at 5:30 PM, until 7:00 PM.

The Butler Elks Lodge has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting education in Bates County by raising funds and securing grants to provide school supplies for students in the Adrian, Hume, Ballard and Rich Hill School Districts. Their generosity helps ensure students begin the school year equipped with the tools they need to succeed.

"It is with sincere gratitude that we thank the Butler Elks Lodge for their generous donation of school supplies as the new school year approaches," said Adrian Elementary Principal Meka Bauer. "Your kindness and support are truly appreciated. Thank you."

Tax Rate Hearing Notice: A hearing will be held at 6:30pm. on Wednesday, August 20, 2026 at 601 N Houston, Adrian, Missouri; at which time citizens may be heard on the property tax rates proposed to be set by the Adrian R-3 School District, a political subdivision.
